‘Precious’ King RIP

Helen Louise King, 66, wife of long-time 98 Frog radio personality Kingbird, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 13th at Halifax Medical Center. Louise was born May 31, 1945 in Gate City, VA. She retired from Daytona State College as head of Cosmetology Dept. after twenty plus years. Louise aka “PRECIOUS” was a part of her husband Jim’s aka “KINGBIRD” radio show over the years also. Louise was a shopping pro and all about the “Bling”. She is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Elliott; her father Clive “Gag” Elliott; and a special niece, Caitlyn Duncan. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Jim “Kingbird” King; daughter, Angela Harley and grandson Kyler Harley (who she loved to shop for) of Bristol, TN; three sisters, Sandra and husband Walter Porter of Weber City, VA, Carolyn and husband James Flanary of Richmond, VA, Sharon and husband Darrell Duncan of Kingsport, TN; brother-in-laws Phil King and wife Joyce and Del King of Telahoma; two nephews, Terry Porter and Mark Flanary. Louise will be returned to her home town of Gate City, VA. Services will be conducted at 5 pm Friday, May 18th at Gate City Funeral Home in Gate City, VA. A memorial to celebrate Louise’s life will be announced at a later date. Louise touched many lives in a positive way with her outgoing personality and in her long career in Cosmetology. She will be deeply missed.
