Steve Dickerson – Newsman and first to break the Charlie Parker UFO Story
Great days with a great Program Director. Now Co-host Gulf Coast Mornings at Newsradio 104.9 FM in the old K-99 building — 24 hours news talk – Kipp Greggory & I host the only local segment from 5 – 8 a.m. weekdays. Now the #1 station in the market.

Steve Dickerson had a hearty laugh and a booming voice that people recognized immediately.

He knew just about everyone on the Coast through his work in newspaper, TV and radio (WVMI-WQID), as well as with the city of Gulfport and volunteer groups, such as the Salvation Army.

Dickerson, 65, died March 14th, 2012 of heart problems at a hospital in Oklahoma.

Dickerson was born in Piedmont, Okla., and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a reporter at the Sun Herald and also worked in TV and radio.

Former Gulfport Mayor Ken Combs hired Dickerson to work for the city as business development director. Under former mayor Bob Short, Dickerson did public relations for the city.
